Chiropractic adjustments help relieve pain by restoring our body’s ability to move properly. As we go through life, the joints of the body tend to not move as well as they used to. Adjustments are a safe and effective way to restore and maintain our mobility as we age. For those who prefer not to receive a traditional adjustment we also offer low-force techniques. We adjust all of our treatments to each patient’s preference and tolerance, and are able to use a variety of manual techniques to achieve our goals.
Spinal decompression, and other forms of traction, help us effectively treat patients with pain that is caused by bulging or herniated discs such as sciatica, cervical and lumbar radiculopathies, and more. We may perform traction “by hand” or utilize a specialized traction table to “decompress” these tissues. Traction helps to stretch your tight muscles and ligaments, improve nutrition to the discs and increases available space in the openings where your spinal nerves exit.
When the spine is not moving properly, the muscles and ligaments tend to get overworked. We utilize the latest myofascial techniques that support the adjustment by relieving muscle spasms, decreasing adhesions within the muscle, and improving flexibility to ensure our correction is a long-term one.
Once we get our patients out of pain, it is important that we work with them to develop new, more efficient patterns of movement. To help maintain the progress we make, we often incorporate some level of rehabilitation into our treatment plans from in-office, guided therapy to a personalized, home-based exercise plan. A proper home exercise program is critical to helping our patients become as self-sufficient as possible.
Our goal is to educate and empower our patients to take control of their own health. We are committed to helping our patients in any way that we can, whether it be through advice on proper nutrition and exercise, or by educating our patients on proper sleep postures or desk ergonomics. We encourage our patients to ask questions about anything they may be curious about, and we strive to be a resource for relevant and quality information.
Dealing with a personal or auto injury is never a fun thing to deal with. The process can be intimidating to say the least. We pride ourselves in not only providing great care for our personal injury & auto accident patients, but also by being an advocate for them and helping them navigate the medico-legal aspects of the process. By using evidence-based treatment algorithms and with proper documentation, we help our patients receive the care they need and ensure their rights to care after the injury are not infringed upon.
One of the unique services that we offer at Stanley Chiropractic is the Titleist Performance Institute Mobility Screen. Dr. Stanley earned his TPI certification in 2014 which is a special certification that allows Dr. Stanley to better examine and treat golfers. There are many ways for someone to swing a golf club, but the best way for you to swing a club is based on what you are physically capable of. The screen identifies any weaknesses or dysfunctional movement that may be hindering your performance or putting you at a risk of injury. We can then take the results of your screen and build a program specifically designed to help you improve your mobility and to help you meet your golf and fitness goals on and off the course. Contact us if you would like more information on our Golf Performance Programs.
